Negotiating the people mandate before you've earned it
Most People leaders inherit their mandate. Aaisha Knights-Ihediwa negotiated hers before she'd even signed her contract. It worked: budget and mandate locked in before she started, not requested six months in once trust had been earned the hard way. Now she's turning that experience into something repeatable, a playbook for what to ask for, what to walk away from, and how to make the case stick before you've proven anything. Key takeaways: - What she actually asked for last time, and why it worked before she'd proven anything. - The early version of a repeatable playbook for securing mandate and budget upfront. - What she'd change next time, and what's still unresolved about turning a one-off win into a habit.
